Why I’m Bringing Walk and Talk Therapy to Lisbon

Did you know studies show that we often communicate more openly when walking side by side with someone? Being in motion can ease the intensity of conversations and help us feel more relaxed. That’s why I’m excited to introduce Walk and Talk Therapy, a more dynamic way of experiencing therapy, outside of the traditional office setting.

This approach—also known as outdoor therapy or movement therapy—creates an environment that feels natural, especially if the idea of sitting in a room face to face for an hour seems intimidating. Imagine walking through one of Lisbon’s parks or along the river, talking freely while taking in the surroundings. For many, this can be a more approachable and less formal way to work through their thoughts and feelings.

What makes this so powerful? Walking has been shown to reduce stress, improve focus, and allow for deeper thinking. There’s something about moving forward—literally—that helps unblock our minds. Personally, I’ve found some of the most meaningful conversations happen when I’m walking shoulder to shoulder with someone. It’s a space where things seem to flow naturally, and without the pressure of direct eye contact, it can feel lighter and less intense.

If you’re someone who spends your day sitting at a desk or just feels that the idea of traditional therapy sounds a bit too daunting, this might be the perfect fit for you. Walk and Talk Therapy allows us to connect in a way that’s more relaxed, and it can be a refreshing break from our daily routines.

So, what do you think? Could your next therapy session be a walk along the river or through a quiet park here in Lisbon? If this sounds interesting, or if you have any questions, get in touch. I’d love to walk with you.
